Your Fingerprints. Your File. Yours for Life.

Why Owning Your Own .EFT File Is One of the Smartest Moves You Can Make

An ATF-formatted EFT file is a one-time investment that pays you back on every NFA item you ever buy — and the same fingerprint capture opens doors well beyond suppressors and SBRs.

The Basics

What Is an EFT File, Really?

â—†

An EFT (Electronic Fingerprint Transmission) file is your fingerprints, captured digitally and formatted exactly the way the ATF requires for electronic filing. Instead of mailing in ink cards and waiting on the postal service, your file uploads directly into the ATF eForms system — cutting weeks or months out of your approval timeline.

Because eForms accepts the file directly, you or your dealer can upload it straight into your application — no re-keying data, no separate mailing step. And as of January 1, 2026, the ATF tax stamp itself is $0, so filing electronically costs you nothing in ATF fees.

Why It's Worth Owning

The Real Benefits of Having Your Own File

â—†
  • It never expires. Your fingerprints don't change, so your file stays valid indefinitely — no renewal, no re-scan, no do-overs.
  • It's reusable, unlimited. One capture covers every future ATF Form 1, Form 4, and Form 5 submission — your first suppressor, your fifth, or your fifteenth.
  • It follows you, not a dealer. Your file belongs to you. Buy your next item from any FFL, anywhere, and the same file goes with the application.
  • Faster approvals, every time. Electronic submissions with a properly formatted EFT file process dramatically faster than mailed-in paper fingerprint cards.
  • Fewer rejections. Poor-quality ink cards are one of the most common causes of processing delays. A clean digital capture avoids that problem entirely.
  • It can be corrected. If information on file needs updating, it can be revised without starting over from scratch.

Not Just Suppressors

Everything Your Fingerprint File Puts to Work

â—†

Your captured fingerprints aren't locked to one use. The same visit can produce an ATF-formatted EFT file, or be printed onto an FBI FD-258 fingerprint card for a different purpose — so you're not starting from scratch every time you need fingerprints for something new.

Every Future NFA Purchase

Suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, machine guns, AOWs — Form 1 and Form 4 filings all draw from the same EFT file, for the rest of your life.

NFA Trusts

Every responsible person named on a trust needs their own fingerprints on file. We can also generate the trust document itself while you're here, through our partnership with 10scan and National Gun Trusts — attorney-drafted and ready to file.

FFL & Explosives Licensing

Applying for a Federal Firearms License, or a Federal Explosives License or Permit? Both require fingerprints as part of the application.

NICS Voluntary Appeal File (UPIN)

Been mistakenly flagged or delayed at a NICS background check before? A UPIN application through the FBI's Voluntary Appeal File uses a fingerprint submission to clear your name for faster checks going forward.

Employer, Licensing & Adoption Checks

Job background checks, professional licensing boards, foster/adoptive screening, and volunteer screening all accept a fingerprint card — we can print yours on the spot, right here.

Your Own FBI Identity History Summary

Want to see exactly what's on your own federal record before you apply for anything? A personal FBI Identity History Summary request uses this same kind of fingerprint submission.

Not an NFA Customer? Still Welcome

Fingerprinting for Employers & Local Businesses

â—†

You don't need an NFA purchase to use our Live Scan station. Send new hires or license applicants here instead of a kiosk across town — federal contractor screening (including HSPD-12 badge and background-investigation prints, common for contractors supporting facilities like Anniston Army Depot), state licensing boards, and routine new-hire background checks all welcome.

The Math

One File. Every Purchase After. Real Money Saved.

â—†
Scenario Without Your Own File With Your Own EFT File
1st NFA item Pay for fingerprinting Pay for fingerprinting — file is yours to keep
2nd NFA item Pay again, wait again $0 for fingerprinting — reuse the same file
3rd–10th NFA item Pay and wait, every time $0 every time — upload and go
Different dealer next time Fingerprints tied to that transaction Same file works anywhere, with anyone
Transfer with Lawson & Cooper Arms Standard Title II transfer fee Transfer fee drops from $75 to $35 when you already have your file on hand
ATF eForms tax stamp $0 as of January 1, 2026 — filing electronically costs nothing in ATF fees

The more NFA items you own over time, the more a one-time file saves you — in both money and waiting.

The Difference

Why Get Your File Here Instead of a Kiosk

â—†
  • A trained technician, not a self-serve machine. Your capture is checked for quality in real time, so it doesn't come back rejected weeks later.
  • Your file is kept for life. Some kiosk-style services delete your data after 30 days — ours stays with us, so if you ever need it again, it's already here.
  • You walk out with it in hand. No waiting on a separate kiosk company to email your file days later.
  • No middleman fee. You're paying for the fingerprinting, not a kiosk operator's markup on top of it.
  • One place, every purpose. NFA, employer, licensing, UPIN — whatever the reason, it's the same trusted process and the same face across the counter.

Standalone Service

EFT File Pricing

â—†

$75 In-Store

$100 total for mobile ($75 + $25 travel fee).

Common Questions

What Owners Ask Us

â—†

Does my EFT file expire?

No. The ATF places no expiration date on EFT files. As long as your fingerprints haven't changed due to injury or scarring, your file stays valid indefinitely.

Can I use the same file for multiple NFA items?

Yes. Your file works for unlimited Form 1 and Form 4 submissions — first item or tenth, same file every time.

Do I need a new file if I buy from a different dealer?

No. Your EFT file belongs to you, not to any one dealer or transaction. You provide it for each new submission, wherever you buy.

Does everyone on my NFA trust need their own file?

Yes. Every responsible person named on a trust needs their own fingerprints on file before the trust can complete an application.

Can I get my trust prepared at the same appointment as my EFT file?

Yes. Bundle your EFT file with an attorney-drafted NFA trust, generated through our partnership with 10scan and National Gun Trusts, for $135 total — done together in one visit.

Can I use my fingerprints for something other than an ATF submission?

Yes. The same capture can be printed onto an FD-258 card or reformatted for employment, licensing, or adoption background checks — each still goes through its own proper submission for that purpose, but you're not starting over.

What if I've been wrongly flagged during a NICS background check before?

You can apply for a UPIN through the FBI's Voluntary Appeal File to clear it up for future checks — that application also uses a fingerprint submission, which we can provide.
